I've moved!

I have moved my blog to Wordpress! I've found that they do offer a little more options that I like, so giving it a try!

Plus, slowly growing out of the name for this blog. I figured it would be hard to get tired of my own name. And blogger didn't have susielin available. Damn website address hoggers.

Blogger has served me well.

iWindows issue

I always say that I want to switch to a Mac. Why? Their screens are pretty, they look nicer, the new OS has a user friend interface... and I could go on. With that said, I've never had any serious issues with Windows.

The one thing that I've always had a slight problem with was the system tray/notification area. Its happened several times that the notification area would disappear, the language bar would fall in to the right place. And this happened repeatedly, again today. (I should have taken a screen shot)

The one thing that allows me to work smoothly on my computer is the one thing that fails me. Solutions? I've had many over the years, weren't the smartest or quickest. Move my whole account to a new user. It is a LONG process which I really wasn't in the mood to deal with today, so I decided to fall back on Google and search my options with at least 30 different variations of words in my search.

I found the Taskbar Repair Tool. A simple program took me two seconds to download, two seconds to unzip, ten seconds to tell the program what I wanted to repair, and two minutes to restart. Problem solved. 2 mins 14 seconds.

Now don't I look smart.

I just needed to dedicate a little time to Googling all this time, and everything would have been dandy in all those times when I spent hours trying to setup my new account. Lesson learned.

I still want a Mac.

Over-stimulation of the brain can cause damages. Okay, I may be exaggerating a little. Though it did sound poetic in my head.

Second to last issue of our paper for this semester is done and paginated. Photos are laid out, and ready to go to print. Such a relief. The semester has gone by much faster with the week to week deadlines in my schedule. Semesters don't feel like such a drag anymore.

29 days. I get to see family! I have a 9 hour plane ride to get myself ready to watch December and January pass by in a blink of an eye. Then another 9 hour plane ride back to ponder on how much I am going to miss them, once again.

I'm getting ahead of myself.

Now I'm going to sink into some Beth Orton and fall asleep. Keep that Nintendo away from me.

sleep buying

Oops. I did it. Was I really supposed to? Meh, too late.

So I did. Literally rolled out of bed from my nap. Three minutes left on the auction. And I purchased my first Hasselblad body, with waist finder, and film back.

Oh, now I need to look for a lens!

I think the excitement will hit me once I get the email from the seller telling me that my camera is shipped!

Woot woot!

myspace facebook

I've always thought that MySpace and Facebook was just really good for keeping in touch with old friends. Never gave it too much more credit.
Recently I've been trying to rent out a room in my apartment and I've discovered a new use for these networking sites.

I get in touch with people who are interested to look at the apartment and schedule them, they have my email address.

Few hours later, I get a friend request or message from someone I don't know. I checked and it was someone that I was communicating with via email. They looked me up on Facebook and MySpace! "Hey this is so and so, I thought I'd drop you a message so you can get to know me a little better before I come check out the apartment!"
When it comes to students, and its even more convenient when you go to the same school! With the way Facebook works, you can pretty much view the profile of anyone that goes to your school!

So really, these networking websites are not just for you to keep in touch with your friends, spy on old flames, but also to get to know your possible roommate a little better. Smart, because it saves you so much time from checking out the place and find out that the person is a total nut job.

Man, I'm gonna see if my boss will let me write a story about this for the school paper! This is totally new to me since I've been pretty settled in my living situation for about a year now, and haven't had look for a roommate. We'll see what he says...

I'm not too good with keeping story ideas to myself.
